Iri Into Elsewhere

Kamchatka
I’ve always dreamed of visiting Kamchatka. For some reason, though, it stayed filed away under “someday” for the longest time — that far-off dream that always felt a little too wild, a little too distant.
Until June 2024, when I finally moved it to the "planning department." (Building "unreachable" dreams into reality might just be my favorite hobby — it's honestly simpler than it sounds, and sometimes even funny!).
For years, I’d been following a research boat that occasionally opens its marine expeditions to travelers. This time, I stumbled across another Instagram post: an invitation for an 8-day journey in Kamchatka to spot whales, seals, and orcas. Intriguing, right?
But then I thought — spending a whole week only at sea would be a shame, especially when Kamchatka has so much more to offer on land, too.
Long story short: there are so many places in the world I've yet to step foot in, and comparatively few I've already explored — but Kamchatka, like Brazil and Sri Lanka, has already carved out a special little corner in my heart.
Below, you'll see why.
P.S. I’m already gathering a mini-group for next summer’s trip! If you’ve ever dreamed of Kamchatka too, maybe it’s time to move it to your planning department.
